Where it all began
In 2015, Ben and Mike founded CrowdCharge to make electric vehicles (EVs) more than just cars – by turning them into smart, flexible energy solutions to enhance the use of renewable energy. This was just the start of their mission to optimize clean low-carbon tech like EVs, solar panels, batteries, and heat pumps.
The challenge
Early on, they faced challenges of the unpredictable nature of EVs and grid connection. Mike went to source bi-directional chargers from Japan, while Ben developed smart software to manage all these technologies. Their collaboration with the electricity industry led to the groundbreaking Electric Nation project with 700 EVs, funded by the UK’s National Grid, proving EVs could integrate smoothly with existing electricity infrastructure.
The solution
Realising the potential of their AI engine, they are now sharing it with car and charger manufacturers, installers, electricity suppliers, house builders, and fleet operators, helping them save money, energy and reduce their carbon footprint. They’ve enabled early adopters of Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) chargers to get free energy with their advanced AI.
